Try the Trades is designed to give adults between the ages of 18-39 the opportunity to experience the residential skilled trades through hands-on exposure and mentoring. Participants can choose placements in one of four areas:
Interior FinishingFormwork
Exterior Finishing
Framing
There are two (2) week and four (4) week sessions offer monthly. Upon completion of the two (2) week program participants are awarded $1000. Participants who complete the four (4) week program participants are awarded an additional $1000. All participants who complete the program are eligible for a $2000 educational subsidy and there are NO costs to participate in this program.
On-site placements are currently available in St. John's, Mount Pearl, CBS, Paradise, Torbay, Flatrock, and Portugal Cove-St. Philip's. If you are traveling from outside of the greater metropolitan area you may be eligible for $50/day transportation and accommodations allowance with proof of residence.
